Reports From the Road

I caught the red eye into Alpharetta, GA and I haven’t been to sleep since Saturday night.

I’m working at Verizon Wireless’ call center headquarters, testing a new voice recognition application with a few other people from my company. I arrived on-site at 1:30PM, learned the application in ten minutes, and spent the next six hours training the Verizon live operators that will be working with me. The next three days will be eight-hour shifts at a live callboard—it’s going to be a busy week. Since I have internet access in my hotel room, I’ll take this moment to breeze through a couple of noteworthy topics of interest.

A tablet pre-dating the supposed birth of Jesus Christ (and certainly the birth of Christianity) by several decades has been uncovered, in Jerusalem. The tablet tells a Jewish depiction of a messiah named Simon, who is to die and rise again after three days. Sound familiar? This discovery sheds a harsh light into the face of the Christian faith who based the foundations of their cult dogma on a few decades-old Jewish stories about some dude named Simon If common sense and modern science wasn’t enough to convince you, now there is this pure comedy gold—It’s The Life of Brian, but for real.

I just realized why I’ve always liked you so much- your cynicism and pure decadence. It’s wonderful.

I actually wouldn’t describe myself as a cynic or a decadent at all…quite the opposite. I think that I’m a realist to the most extreme of its definition. I know I can come off a bit brash, but it’s only because I’m incredibly engaging with people–I almost never mean to cause any emotional harm. I’m a realist and a humanist. And although I appreciate your compliment, I hope that no one sees me as cynical or decadent.
